Frequently Asked Questions, Page 3
Q.  How is the staff hired?
A. Most of the staff have moved up the ranks from campers to counselors. Each demonstrated the desire and ability to become counselors. Many have been at camp for five to 10 years.

Q.  Are personal interviews conducted? Are there background checks?
A. At Roosevelt and Firebird we screen potential staff members very carefully. Each has a personal interview with one of our directors and all candidates are background checked according to the laws of the state of Ohio and the guidelines of the American Camp Association.

Q. Do you have international staff?
A. Yes, we do. Many campers and their families have suggested that we continue to hire a diversified staff, which is our intention. In fact, we have had several staff members from Mexico, Europe and Australia, who came up through the ranks to become counselors.

Q. What kinds of safety measures are in place? How many staff members know CPR?
A. During our week-long pre-camp staff training, all participants take a CPR and basic first aid course. In addition, our staff is taught our extensive internal and ACA safety guidelines.
